Supertweed

SUPER TWEED is one of Fonty's signature yarns. Made from 95% superfine Superwash Merino wool, which provides softness and elasticity, and 5% Mohair fiber, which gives it a shiny appearance and bulk, SUPER TWEED is a carded yarn with an extraordinary feel.

In the tweed family (yarns with small, intentional random spots of color), SUPER TWEED is unique on the market because it is the only one made from 100% natural fibers. In fact, its colored buttons are exclusively made from dyed natural wool, unlike the others. The main fiber is dyed in the fluff, before being transformed into yarn, and the buttons are added to an already pigmented material. This process of dyeing raw materials rather than pigmenting a yarn also allows for the creation of 3 subtly shaded colors for each dyeing pass, by diluting the dyed fluff with unbleached fluff. This deliberate choice of a more restrictive manufacturing method allows for the reduction of dyeing operations, and therefore their ecological impact, while guaranteeing consistent color combinations.

SUPER TWEED is a medium-weight, medium-ply yarn knit on size 5 needles. Ideal for Irish sweaters, ribbing, and winter accessories, SUPER TWEED is versatile and suitable for any type of project. This comfortable, classic yarn is machine washable (30°C) without spinning. Avoid spinning. Drying flat is recommended.
